This is the reason for researchers to conduct in-depth studies and research on this phenomenon. The research method used by researchers is descriptive qualitative with the data sources being the principal and some of the teachers. The results of the study show that: Principals have important responsibilities and are required to have abilities and skills such as organizing, arousing enthusiasm, encouraging, guiding subordinates, and having the ability to form collaborations. The inhibiting and supporting factors for the leadership of school principals in innovating the education system are the supporting factors: 1) the persistence of efforts of educators in creating quality schools that are able to answer future challenges, 2) internal and external factors where internal factors include school principals, teachers, students, while external factors include parents and a conducive environment, 3) education system factors, short-term and long-term planning. While the inhibiting factors are: 1) Funding problems, 2) Limited facilities and infrastructure to support the teaching and learning process.
