This study examines the mediating role of work engagement in the relationship between job burnout and employee performance. In increasingly dynamic and demanding work environments, organizations must maintain employee performance to achieve organizational goals. However, excessive job demands may trigger job burnout, which can negatively affect performance. Work engagement is considered an important factor that can strengthen employees’ attachment to their work and improve performance outcomes. This research applied a quantitative approach using a survey method. Data were collected from 120 respondents through questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings reveal that job burnout significantly affects employee performance and work engagement, while work engagement also significantly influences employee performance. Furthermore, work engagement is proven to mediate the relationship between job burnout and employee performance. These results highlight the importance of fostering employee engagement as a strategy to reduce the negative impact of burnout and enhance overall employee performance within organizations.
