THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HUSBAND’S SUPPORT AND PLANNING ACCEPTORS INTEREST IN USING INTRAUTERINE DEVICE (IUD) CONTRACEPTION GADING COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER SURABAYA

The use of the Intrauterine Device (IUD) in Indonesia remains lower than that of other contraceptive methods. One of the factors influencing the low utilization of IUDs is the husband's support in family planning decision-making. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between husband's support and family planning acceptors' interest in using the Intrauterine Device (IUD) at Gading Public Health Center, Surabaya. This study employed a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. A total of 110 family planning acceptors were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed a significant relationship between husband's support and family planning acceptors' interest in using the IUD (p = 0.002; p < 0.05). Acceptors who received good support from their husbands demonstrated a higher interest in using the IUD than those who received less support. Therefore, husband's support plays an important role in increasing interest in IUD use. Family planning education and counseling should actively involve husbands to improve the acceptance and utilization of IUD contraception.
