DISTORSI MAQASID AL-NIKAH PADA FENOMENA LAVENDER MARRIAGE DI KOTA GORONTALO

Abstract

This This study examines the Distortion of Maqasid al-Nikah in the Phenomenon of Lavender Marriage in Gorontalo City through the Maqāṣid al-Nikāḥ approach. This phenomenon describes the practice of marriage between two individuals with different sexual orientations who aim to conceal their identities due to social pressure and religious norms. Using a descriptive qualitative method, this research reveals the forms, motives, and characteristics of Lavender Marriage and analyzes them based on the Islamic values and objectives of marriage: sakinah, mawaddah, and rahmah (tranquility, affection, and compassion). The findings show that this practice represents a distortion of the Maqāṣid al-Nikāḥ as it violates the essence of marriage as an act of worship and a means to achieve spiritual and emotional harmony. This phenomenon also has negative implications for the moral resilience of society and the existence of Islamic Family Law, thus emphasizing the need to strengthen maqāṣid values in fostering Islamic families in the modern era.
